Sylwester – New Year Eve by Agata

The celebration I have chosen to write about is ‘Sylwester’ the Polish celebration of  New Year’s Eve. The farewell is a feast  that has been celebrated  since  the turn of  the century. To begin with it was a  celebrated only by poor people. In the early twentieth century  more people began to celebrate this feast. The local custom is to celebrate  New Year  Eve at night. In Poland, like in other places you celebrate with fireworks and alcohol. You need to be 18 years old and the celebrations do not start until 12 o clock, when the New Year begins.
