We decided to find out about Christmas food in different countries around the world.
In Australia a traditional meal includes a turkey dinner, with ham and pork. For dessert, a flaming Christmas plum pudding is served. Another treat is mince pies. In the Australian gold rush it contained a gold nugget. A small favour is put inside now and whoever finds this will have good luck.

In Germany, a large meal is served either in the afternoon or early evening. For a main course you will either be served a roast goose, duck stuffed with apples, chestnuts, onions and prunes. They also serve red cabbage, boiled potatoes and dumplings. In some parts of Germany they will have turkey, beef, venison or wild boar. For dessert they are given ‘stollen’ which is a cake which contains dried fruit, chopped nuts and spices. For a drink, a beer is usually served.
